Gavin R Hero
World's Biggest Super Hero
How Gavin became our hero........
The Gavin R Hero foundation was created purely out of Love. Our sweet little buddy, passed on to heaven from complications from an intestinal mal-rotation on October 19, 2019, the hardest day of our lives. We were hoping for a miracle, but when we arrived at Rady Children's Hospital he had no signs of brain activity. It was during this time that we realized Gavin had the chance through organ donation to save others, and we truly believe this is what he would have wanted. When we would ask him what he wanted to be when he grew up he would always say "the world's biggest super hero". He wanted to save people and make the world a better place. Through the beautiful organization Life Sharing Donate Life San Diego, his organ donation journey became possible. His heart is now beating strongly in a 4 year old little girl and his liver and kidney were able to save two different women. This is just the beginning, his legacy will go on to help many more people.
The GavinRhero foundation is becoming a reality naturally and we feel the need to honor Gavin’s legacy by making more miracles for families and our community. Through this foundation and all of your generous gifts of love, we will be making kits for parents that find themselves in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit without the comforts of home. Blankets, socks, dental items and deodorant are just a few of the items we think they would appreciate. We will also be donating to many organizations and families in need in our community. We have experienced the worst tragedy of losing our son, but have felt so much love and support.
We will forever be grateful to Rady Children’s Hospital, Lifesharing, and our community for coming together to help us through this difficult time. Your love and prayers are helping us to stand tall and to see the light in a dark and sad situation. We are so thankful for all of you.
Graciously yours, Chris and Tawni
